This seaside garden offered an open invitation to come and rest, pause, and enjoy the vista, colors, and fragrant air. With its driftwood, grasses, trees, and vivid blooms set against the aqua background of Lake Michigan, it was a spot that we could not pass by. Yet to enter this lovely space, you needed to pull off the road and step into this space of solitude. In other words, we had to choose to enter this peaceful, serene respite.

From the beginning of time, gardens have been a place of beauty. They are spaces where we can slow our pace and take a breath. They are invitations from our Father to meditate, pray, and experience His presence. They are where we can find strength, joy, peace, and grace by simply stopping to praise our Creator and acknowledge Him as Messiah, Immanuel.
“The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:11 NIV
Gardens are highlighted throughout Scripture. Adam and Eve were given such a place for their first home. Gethsemane became Jesus’ source of refuge, surrender, and obedience. And in Revelation, we are told that heaven will contain a garden much like the original Eden was depicted in Genesis. And to us, they are reminders that we can meet God here (Genesis 2:8, Isaiah 51:3, Mark 14:32-34).
