“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (ESV).” Habakkuk 2:14

In the sea,
I see Your majesty.
In the waves,
I feel Your power.
In the sand,
Is the impression …
(The imprint),
That You have been here,
This very hour.
In the sky,
I behold Your faithfulness.
In the ‘gulls,
I hear Your call.
In the breeze,
I feel Your Spirit,
It is constant;
You are my,
All in All.
As the sun,
Reflects upon the water,
It dances with Your light,
And I feel,
Your radiance,
Come gently,
Boldly,
Shining,
Bright.
In the sea,
I see Your majesty,
In the waves,
I feel Your power.
In the sand,
I see Your footprints,
These imprints show me,
That You walk with me,
Every hour.
So I will take Your hand,
Jesus;
I will follow,
As You lead.
Because as I behold Your glory,
I want my shadow,
To show and tell …
That I love You,
And that You meet my every need.
I love the idea that as we look at the beauty of nature and all of God’s creations, He displays His nature to us. When we take time, for instance, to notice all of the intricacies of the sea, the waves, the sky, and the impressions made in the sand—these things have the power to make an impression on our hearts and minds. They are the visible reminders of His care and love for us. So, as many of you have, or will, travel to the sea this summer, I hope you will take time to see God’s love for you in the things that you find there. And I also hope that You find His presence, communion, and peace. For as we quiet our minds and enjoy the calm that seems to embody the seashore, we may also see that nature has so much to teach us about the nature of Jesus.
Dear Lord, may I behold You in all of nature. I pray that You show me Your nature in all of the beautiful things that Your hands have created. As I pause to appreciate each one, I find myself seeing more of Your glory. Each one brings a new appreciation of Your majesty, creativity, love, and care for us. And I also pray that the impression of my life will also show that I love You. Because Your faithfulness, new every morning, has been my guiding light, and the call to my spirit. I will follow where You lead, Jesus, because I do see You … in all that You provide, in who You are, and in Your divine nature. Amen.
