“God spread snow like it was wool; God scatters frost like it was ashes; 17 God throws his hail down like crumbs—who can endure God’s freezing cold? 18 Then God issues his word and melts it all away! God makes his winds blow; the water flows again.” Psalm 147:16-18 CEB

Dear Jesus, a fresh coat of feathery down has begun to fall outside the window. I see it reflected in the streetlamp and watch the flakes dance and swirl in the wind. You’re creating a wintery wonderland, a beautiful scene covering all that is drab and brown. I love to watch You paint the landscape with Your grace and purity.

It reminds me of a bride dressing for her wedding day. The snow that lands on the tree limbs appears as filmy as her veil. Her gown is the covering that forms and drifts over every texture and tapestry of the earth. Her shoes are like patterned leather where ice forms. And the glittering wonderment—appears as her jeweled accents. Then just like this precious ceremony … too soon, the day is over, the storm passes, and the scene is gone. But still, we see Your beauty, splendor, and majesty. And we wait anxiously for the next day when You spread snow like wool, frost like ashes … and remind us again of Your grace. Amen.

Snow is a magical gift of Winter, God’s creations, and a symbol of His purity and grace.
