Tiger Lily pleading ...
Tiger Lily pleading ...

Our kitty stood up on her back paws. When I looked at her pose, the following words filled my thoughts: “Please God …” Ever feel that way? Perhaps someone you dearly loved was ill, and you pleaded with the Lord for their healing? Or you needed a job? Or have you faced a difficult decision and desperately needed to know God’s Will? Maybe your child, parent, or best friend faced a trial you could not understand? Do any of these resonate in your heart?

Our kitty has it good. There isn’t much that she would have to cry out for. In fact, at her most petite little “meow,” we feed her or see what she needs; the Lord does the same for us. He stands at the ready to come running to our rescue, to answer our every plea. And He is not so much concerned with our posture as the position of our heart.

Jesus wants to be revered, respected, loved, adored, and honored. He wants us to want to please Him. He tells us to ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7-12) and that anything we ask in His name (within His Will) will be ours (1 John 5:14-15). Never be afraid to cry out, call out, whisper, shout, sing, and let tears fall from your face. Coming to Jesus with our requests, with our thanksgiving—pleases Him—greatly.

A Purr of Prayer

Please God,

I need you.

Please God,

That’s what,

I want my life to do.

Please God,

I bring everything …

My thoughts, my words,

My attitudes.

Please God,

I bring my friends,

And family, too.

Please God,

Guide my choices,

The path I choose.

Please God,

Heal me.

Please God,

Touch me.

Please God,

Teach me.

Please God,

Draw me near,

Until You are,

My everything.

Please God,

I’m reaching,

Only, ever,

To be,

More like You.

Amen.

Leaving a Paw Print:  Psalm 145:18

The Lord knows what we need before we bow, stand, or approach His throne. That is not why we come to Him. Prayer is our communion. It is fellowship. It is our union, the way we show our devotion to Jesus. It is our display of reliance upon Him as Lord, Friend, and Master.

Please, God … is our heart’s desire. And when we bring our requests and praise to Him … this is pleasing to God!
