One morning, I was making the bed when Tiger Lily jumped up to play. She loves to be tucked into the bedding as I turn down the sheets and blankets. I drag one of her toys along, and she puts out her paws (and sometimes teeth) to catch it. It's our little ritual every day.
But on this particular pass, I noticed that it was hard to tell—where she began, and her toy ended. They looked so much alike that it was difficult to discern by the naked eye or camera lens. And I immediately thought, “How true this should be, of our relationship, with Jesus.”
When others have been with us, they should not only think that they have been with their friend or relative, etc.—but if we are a child of God—they should feel as if they have been in His very presence. Something of His joy, presence, character, and love should be left at our parting—even in their memory from our time together.
May we make it a discipline to spend time with God each day so that we become part of Him and He, part of us—indistinguishable. If His Spirit is alive and at work in us, then it will be evident to the world—that we are His child. It should not be challenging to discern Who our owner is—when we follow Jesus, the Master.
