I need You

2PP Weekly Blog for week of 3-9 May 2025
It was early in the morning; the sun was not quite up. I had just begun my quiet time with the Lord. I was praying when these words started to fill my mind:

Like the dawn lights the day,
I need you.
Like the birds have to sing,
I need You.
Like the words of the song,
Need notes to glide upon,
I need You.
Like the bee has to buzz,
I need You.
Like the rustle of leaves,
Move in tandem with their sheaves,
I need You.
Like the flower unfurls,
Bringing beauty to the world,
I need You.
Like the crops need the rain,
And the sunshine’s measure again,
To yield, I need You.
Like the butterfly’s dance,
Seems to soar with joy and romance,
I need You.
Like the sun and the moon,
Reflect each other as they move,
I need You.
Like the mountain has to rise,
Giving You glory from on high,
I need You.
Like a river has to flow,
I need You.
Like the ocean’s rage and surge,
I need You.
Like the kitten plays and purrs,
I need You.
Like the lambs in the field,
Follows their shepherd’s voice to heel,
I need You.
Like the sky above,
Points to Your great love,
I need You.
Like the saints and angels ‘round Your throne,
Worship You alone,
I need You.
Like all creation will one day bow,
My heart, here and now,
Declares, I need You.
I loved the idea that everything God has created needs Him to shine, grow, bloom, sing, move, rise, or point to His glory. I acknowledged my need of the Lord in the same analogous manner as each item listed, and my list quickly turned into praise.
How great are You, God! I am so thankful for Your presence—upon the earth and in my heart. As I appreciate the first, I see how intricately You are woven into everything, everyone, and I am drawn more deeply into reliance upon You. May my every breath testify to my need for You; let my soul hear Your answer, “I am here.” Amen.
Revelation 5:13 ESV: “And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!’”
Each of my examples demonstrates a cause-and-effect relationship. If you tell God you need Him, He will answer you by meeting you right where you are.
