Who but God,
Could place desert sand,
Next to the fathomless sea?
Who but He,
Could count the grains,
That cover the shorelines,
Of every continent?
Who but He,
Would allow the waves,
To ebb and flow,
Yet be held,
Within perfect boundaries?
Who are we,
To doubt Him?
Who are we,
Not to trust Him?
Who are we, not,
To see and behold His glory—
In the desert space …
When the waves hit …
When our world shifts,
Like sand beneath our feet?
“I was there when the Lord put the heavens in place and stretched the sky over the surface of the sea. 28 I was with him when he placed the clouds in the sky and created the springs that fill the ocean. 29 I was there when he set boundaries for the sea to make it obey him, and when he laid foundations to support the earth.” Proverbs 8:27-29 (CEV)
Dear Jesus, when my fingers or toes touch the sand, may I experience Your infinity. When I wade into the sea, may I feel Your love like a cleansing tide. May the solitude and the magnitude of Your grandeur, bring peace and the knowledge that You are mindful of my every need. And may every grain of sand and every drop of water in the ocean—demonstrate to my heart, the depth and breadth of Your endless grace. For You are everlasting; and I want to walk, daily by Your side. Amen.
“The sea is His; He made it. His hands formed the dry land. 6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” Psalm 95:5-6 HCSB
