The Light in the Branches

"His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, And the hiding of His might is there (NASB)." Habakkuk 3:4

When I look up through the branches,
I see the shimmering light,
And I am reminded,
To keep my loving Lord in sight.
For as I look to the sky of blue,
And I see those wispy clouds,
I can feel His presence,
Descending all around.
I see His light illumine reds and greens,
As He makes the branches glow,
It’s like He’s touching all creation,
With a wonderful, majestic show.
And if I pause to notice,
These things He places before my eyes,
There is always something of His beauty,
Something to give thanks for—to realize.
He’s in everything that shades me,
He’s in the light that guides my way.
His presence goes with, and before me,
Each and every day.
So I will continue,
To look up to the branches ‘ore my head.
For in looking to You, Jesus,
I am also being led.
As I looked up at the branches, I saw the way the sun was shining through the leaves. In the reds and greens and blue of the sky, I thought of how God was demonstrating His love. If He takes the time to illumine the trees, He is illumining our path; He is always lighting our way. But we must seek Him, and be looking for Him, in order to draw close. The Light in the branches is God!
Dear Lord,
Light was in the branches,
It led me straight to You,
Father, it’s a blessing,
To see creation illuminated through …
For with each new season,
You are reflecting mercy and grace,
And I pray that as I seek You,
May Your character shine upon my face.
Amen.
