Two birds: one sitting still, the other in flight
Two birds: one sitting still, the other in flight

I loved catching this image of two birds recently. Notice that one is sitting still, while the other is in flight. Yet both are held in God’s care, are right where they are supposed to be, and are part of His creation.

There’s a similar parallel in our lives. You may be in the same home, workplace, church, etc. with someone else. You may be the one who feels stationary. You may feel like the one taking flight. But you may both be in God’s perfect Will (Hebrews 13:20-21). You are both perfectly loved by Your Creator (1 John 3:1). And you are both made in the Lord’s image (Genesis 1:27).

So if you wonder if God is watching out for you … is aware of what you’re going through … is mindful of your circumstances … think of this image (Psalm 139:1-18). For in its simplicity is a lesson. Do whatever God directs. Trust Him with the stillness or the leap of faith. Believe. Be content. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. ‘Cause at any moment, your situation and position, can change.

I think God looks for those who praise Him (Psalm 146:2), and are content wherever He has them (Philippians 4:11-12), so that He can use them—in the moment of stillness or for great flights of faith—to be His witness of love and grace (Ephesians 3:17-19).

I encourage you, at each reference, to pause and read these verses and not simply gloss over them. It’s this type of stillness that leads to flight-types of faith.
