This was a Cross we encountered one evening on our way home from errands. We found it because we took a different road from our usual path. I asked Doug to stop so I could photograph it, as its vivid imagery warmed the night and illuminated not just the church’s window but also our hearts.
I loved how it reminded me of a rainbow, shedding forth multi-colored hues in all directions. That was Jesus’ purpose in going to Calvary—to show His love to all mankind, connect us to the Father, cover our sins (as far as the East is from the West), and teach us how to share His light with the world.
The Rainbow Cross is more than an artful display. It’s a covenant of God’s mercy that reaches out in all directions to all people to bring the message of the Gospel and His love right into our neighborhoods. That’s worth sharing, indeed—and not simply at Easter, but every day!
