Tear of the Lily

Once upon a time, there was a Lily.
She was purest white,
On a stalk of emerald green.
I noticed as I went to water her,
That she held a tear,
So crystal clear and clean.
I wondered what made her cry;
Did she mourn,
Because the Savior died?
Was her love so dear?
That she felt it near?
As I came in close,
Her fragrance drew me in.
And I thought of the jar of nard.
Is her tear like the oil,
That anointed my Lord?
A gift of her devotion,
From her soul, poured?
Could this flower,
Have the power,
To tell the story of old?
Tear of the Lily,
May your beauty,
Never run cold.
Though the lily's tear is nectar … I thought it was a beautiful illustration of love poured out upon Jesus, and His love poured out for us. May His offering never grow cold in our hearts. May the grace and mercy that He showed, in purity, be a fragrance to your heart. He is near, so dear, to those who accept the Living Water and the Lily of the Valley as their Lord and Savior.
“During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission (NIV).” Hebrews 5:7
Lord, anoint my life,
With Your love.
Let the oil of Your Spirit,
Fall …
Until, like a tear,
I feel Your presence,
As a gift,
Pouring down,
O’er my soul.
And may the fragrance,
Of Your nearness,
Be like a flower,
Of purity, …
… Opening,
Growing,
So, Your Good News,
And my devotion to You,
Makes my heart,
Beautiful,
Reflecting Yours.
Not once upon a time,
But every day—
To shine.
To be poured out,
Like the Living Water,
You supply.
Jesus was anointed with tears and precious oil :
