A pink and white peony
A pink and white peony

We found this lovely peony in a local garden. I loved its setting near this stone fence. Notice all of the variations in its hues from light to dark? How about all of the pollen that’s spilling over from its center? It’s too full to be contained. And some bees were handy throughout the garden to collect it!

Memorial Day is the unofficial start to Summer. I’m sure your family has lots of exciting and fun things planned. Perhaps planting a garden or visiting one is on your list. Maybe a memorable vacation, swimming, biking, grilling outdoors, playing tennis, or simply relaxing tops your list?

No matter how your Summer unfolds, this peony got me to pondering. Will you be storing up anything good—to spill out? For instance—will you use this time to sup on God’s Word? Will you make more effort to study and meditate with the Lord? Will you begin a gratitude journal? Will you keep track of how the Lord uses you to share His love this Summer?

These few months can slip away quickly—like the passing of the flowers. Or they can be savored, cherished, and put to eternal use. Which will you choose? With whom might you share some of your blessings with those on your path?

“Now the one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will also provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the proof provided by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone. 14 And as they pray on your behalf, they will have deep affection for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:10-15 CSB

I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend and that your Summer brings terrific moments and memories of times shared and of sharing Christ’s love!
