Weekly Inspiration for 27 August - 2 September 2022

I loved finding these images of dried wildflowers, in silhouette, on the pavement. While they have changed with the season, they still have the appearance of a garden, in the capturing. Each stalk and leaf and blossom, though yielding to the passing of warmer days, still rises to give God glory. And in the pause, I see His love and care—visible—crossing my every step, to give me glimpses of His unchanging nature.

Dear Lord, thank You for the wildflowers that are still in bloom, and for the ones that are changing, yielding, to allow the trees to take the spotlight with their jewel-like tones. In Your sovereignty, each is held in Your hand. Though they are here for a season, they bring us delight, and Your world beauty. May we do the same, for the span of our days. May we, like my garden in perfect shadow, leave an impression that shows that we are growing, maturing and changing with each passing year. And may those who cross our path clearly see, the image of You, shining through. Amen.

“The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.” Psalm 103:15-18 NIV

The flowers wither and fade away, but the love of God is eternal. May our lives leave a silhouette beyond the season of our days, to bring You, honor and praise, forever.
