Weekly Inspiration for week of 16-24 September 2022

September 16th, marked the one year anniversary of Mom’s passing. She was loved by her family, her church and many friends and neighbors. Faith, her smile, the sound of her humming and her hats, were a few of her hallmarks. And she had the loveliest crown of gray hair.

Proverbs 16:31 says this: “Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.” (WEB)

I’d like to share the essence of my Mom. We were home for the passing of my Father-in-love in April of 2021. During that week, we had part of a day with my Mom. I asked her if I could have a “lock of her hair.” Without hesitation, she laughed and said, “sure.” I told her “I’d cut a little curl from an inconspicuous place." Little did either of us know that she would be gone from this earth within months.

So my photos are of my beautiful Mom and the lock of her “crown of gray glory.” And as she walks the streets of gold with her Savior and Lord, I don’t know what color her “reborn” hair is, but I know she’s laying a crown of righteousness at Jesus’ feet.

If we have, at the end of our lives—a legacy of faith, a ready smile, and cheery heart—we have indeed shared the love of Jesus and lived rightly before God and man.

Thank You, Lord, for the time that we had to share Mom’s life, for all she taught us, and for how she displayed You—from her shiny locks to the sweetness of her heart. We praise You for her life and her testimony. Amen.
