We found this female Red-winged black bird in a local marsh area. As she posed so prettily on a cattail stalk, I noticed how her plumage was perfectly aligned. Think of it ... these same wings that expand to full width in order to help her fly, will contract to be ordered and layered, one on top of the other.

Her wings will open to give her flight,

A view of the marsh,

The pond, and her surroundings.

Then, they compact,

In a perfect design,

Of alignment;

And I see Your handiwork, O God.

Sketched upon her feathers,

Her frame,

Is Your signature of creation.

And it is just the same upon our lives,

Upon our days.

I’m so thankful, Jesus,

That You perfectly align,

Every circumstance.

So help me trust it all,

The seen and unseen,

To Your care.

Amen.

If God can perfectly align wing and tail feathers, in order for a bird to fly, and then form-fit them to a bird’s body … we should trust that He is working everything in our lives—into order, into completion—into some glorifying song of praise.

Layer upon layer, God is using our life experiences—to build trust, to grow our knowledge of Him and His Word, to instill us with the Spirit’s guidance—so that we obey Him and believe that He is perfectly aligning everything in and around us.

Alignment: Psalm 16:3, 1 John 5:14, Psalm 143:10,

Trusting that God is working all things for good: Romans 8:28, Isaiah 65:24, John 5:17

God is working in both the seen and the unseen: 2 Corinthians 4:18, Hebrews 11:1
