2 P & P weekly blog for 18-24 May 2024

Tilly had had her moment of play. She had her morning snack. Then she settled in next to me while I had my quiet time with the Lord. I loved how she put her paw on the Word as if to say, “Pause here, mama.”
On this particular morning, I was doing devotions with my Mom’s Bible, and it is sweet to have a connection of her faith, her love for Scripture—and for my furry baby to sit with me while I soak in its truths.
Below is a list of things we can glean by coming to God’s Word daily. All/any of these are worth committing to memory!
God’s Word is a Lamp unto our feet: Psalm 119:105
His Word is our joy and heart’s delight: Jeremiah 15:16
This Ancient text brings us doctrine, correction, and instruction unto righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16
His Word is as sharp as a sword to cut through to our motives and attitudes: Hebrews 4:12
The Word of the Lord stands forever: Isaiah 40:8
The Word of God is the perfect representation of God Himself: John 1:1
The Bible teaches us so that we grow up (mature) in our Salvation: 1 Peter 2:2
Following the instructions of the Word of God demonstrates us to be a Disciple of Christ: John 8:31-32
Putting God’s Word in our hearts helps protect us from sinning: Psalm 119:105
The Bible is a place of wisdom and understanding: Proverbs 4:5
God’s Word is meant to be a source of encouragement and hope: Romans 15:4
God Himself speaks through His Word to give us peace: John 16:33
God’s Word brings us delight because it focuses our eyes upon Him: Psalm 37:4
I hope you’ll take the time to look up each reference and read each verse. That way—you’ll be pausing too—to share in the communion of His presence today (and hopefully every day).
“Paw-sing” daily in the Word is a great habit to develop. As we put God first, He teaches us His truths and will also lead us and guide our steps to follow in His paths!
