2 P & P Weekly Blog for the week of 3-9 June 2023

We were preparing for yard work when I noticed the tiniest feather on my path. Measuring only one & one-half inches, it was complete with plumage and quill intact. However, it was intricate, with an almost silver cast to the quill, while the feather was jet black. And since Tilly loves interacting with the birds in our yard, I decided to see how she might respond to this object.
She came close to investigate. She looked at it. She sniffed. She was gentle in pursuing God’s creation. It was interesting to watch what reaction she would display. It was sweet to see curiosity in action. And it was delightful to see her whiskers splay as she came close. In part, this is how I feel at each new find in God’s beautiful world. I like to use my senses too!
Dear Lord, thank You for eyes that can see Your lovely, colorful, intricate designs, shapes, and patterns. Thank You for ears that can hear the birds singing, the cat’s meow, the whisper of the breeze upon the wind chimes. Thank You for the sense of touch that protects us and invites us to experience things like the velvety softness of a rose petal. Thank You for a nose that can inhale the glories of Summer and fragrant blooms in their myriad varieties. Each of these is how You teach and invite us to know more of You. Amen.
If a cat is curious enough to investigate what I bring her … why do we sometimes miss all the wonders God places on our daily path? To do so … is to miss some of His majesty, some of His miracle-working—power, and, to put it simply … some of the delight He intends for His creations to bring us.
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11 ESV
2 Pause and Praise in the Word: Rest in Psalm 104 today. You may feel a little like Tilly—in awe of Who God is. Then, ask Him to fill you with excitement about the world to come—because when I see the things He makes here on earth—I can only imagine the delights that await!
Feather and fur became an incredible display of curiosity, an intricate study, and a moment to witness God’s creative invitation to every creature—to know Him more!
