Tiger Lily snuggled in bed
Tiger Lily snuggled in bed

Our kitten was nestled,

All snug in our bed,

I wondered if visions,

Of the Christ-Child,

Filled her sweet head.

For when Jesus was born, He was wrapped in swaddling clothes, but His bed was not quite as cozy as Tilly’s. He was born in a stable, since the inn was full. He was born with the lowing of cattle, joining Mary’s lullaby. And He was born, not with the splendor that He deserved, but in the company of ordinary shepherds who traveled to meet and worship Him.

This is a great message to our hearts.

  • God came wrapped in humanity, so He would identify with our humanness (John 1:14).

  • He came in a divine way (born to a virgin via a miracle) but must be sought to be found (Isaiah 7:14).

  • He is available to every one of every race, occupation, social standing, etc. (John 3:16-17).

  • We must make room for Him, invite Him into our hearts, if He is to be our Lord and Savior (Revelation 3:20).

A Purr of Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You for coming to earth to give us peace, and for reaching out to one and all. Thank You for being born with the purpose of being our sacrificial Lamb and for rising again as the King of Kings to reign forevermore. You came so that we can be nestled in Your hand, in Your care, for all eternity. I’m willingly making room for You in my heart, to be my Lord and Savior. Amen.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 NIV
