When we get up in the morning, our cat Tiger Lily has one goal, one agenda—she wants to be fed. She will follow me around and run down the stairs to get to her first treat of the morning—a little can of food. It is one of her favorite things.

And over the last year, I have trained her … I pat my knee and tell her to “give me little kisses.” Of course, she is obeying to receive her special food, but it is priceless when she stands up on my knees and lets me kiss the top of her head, and I catch a whisper of her purr.
So I was thinking, what is our first goal in the morning, our first agenda? Do we want to be fed by God’s Word? Do we actively seek, follow, and search for the Lord, as our favorite thing? Do we have this sweet, affectionate nature toward our Abba Daddy and others?
Because He, feels these things toward each one of us—love, affection, wanting to be near. I think if we train ourselves to be disciplined, in spending time with Him, we may see “our agendas” in a new light. We may see that while it is good to have a list for the day, it is better to also ask God, if everything on our list, is His priority.
And one final question: Do we want to come to the Lord? Do we come when we are happy and feeling blessed, as easily and frequently as when things are difficult? Are we willing to change our schedule to make time with the most Important Person in our lives?
Leaving a Paw Print
1 John 3:10: He lavishes His love upon us … and calls us His children
Ephesians 2:4-5: The Lord is rich in mercy
Ephesians 5:2: Walk in Love
John 3:16-17: Jesus modeled, Love
Romans 5:8: He demonstrated His love for us …
Perhaps, to those of us who like affection, we could view time in study, prayer, and praise as Jesus’s way of giving us “little kisses.” Many times, these moments have felt exactly like that—pure bliss—with my Maker. What is your favorite thing? And does it include the Lord? Do you need some little kisses? Come into His presence right now; He’s waiting for you!
As you can see, Tiger Lily and I end up in a quick hug—that is what the Lord wants to do with us, also. Let Him pull you close and show you His love daily.
Exodus 15:12 (VOICE) “You raised Your right hand, and the earth swallowed Your enemies.”
