Life's Twists and Turns

It was amazing to follow this path of boardwalk in this sun-dappled forested area. It held a series of twists and turns that were concealed until you reached each consecutive bend. As you came to each, however, the path was still clearly laid out. Don’t we wish life was always like this? But did you know, that it is God’s desire for us to understand and follow Him, likewise.
Let’s look at Jeremiah 6:16 and see how this verse can be applied: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (NIV)
Dear Lord, as I face moments of decision, I love this directive. Stand. Look. Ask for Your ways and where You are leading. Walk there. Find rest. These sound like simple steps, yet they are not always easy to follow. But what I cherish about Your Word and walking with You, is that You promise that those who ask, will be answered. Those who seek, will find. To those that knock, the door will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8). Continue to teach me Abba Daddy. Help me strive to follow, not only Your commandments of long ago, but to love You as my first priority, and to love others as You love us. Then Jesus, I pray for Your rest to anoint my heart, mind and body. For it is healing—to know that I am living in the center of Your Will. Amen.
Stand (wait upon God). Look (for His faithfulness). Ask (for His ways and Will to be made clear to you). Walk there (follow where He leads). Rest (know perfect peace and the communion of Jesus’ presence).
Here are a few other places that demonstrate that God directs our steps and answers those who call upon Him: Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 37:23, Psalm 25:4-5, Psalm 119:105, Jeremiah 29:12-13, Jeremiah 33:3, James 1:5, Psalm 145:18, John 15:16.
Many pathways are available to us in this life. But if we are walking with Jesus and seeking to follow His Will and way, we will experience His promise of rest and the fulfillment of His divine direction. And He responds to the simple inquiries—ask, seek, knock—because they display a heart that wants to know Him more.
