We found these cat paws, imprinted, in the sidewalk. Interestingly enough, they match the cat who lives at this house. He’s a large orange cat with streaks of white at his throat and on his sides, named Charlie. I found it cute that he had gotten out while the pavement was not yet set.

I can picture him running, wondering why his toes were sinking. And he’s left an impression that will record that he lived here. In fact, we were talking to his owner, Dave, and he mentioned that he and his wife (and Charlie) will be moving in the Fall. They will go from this house into an apartment to simplify their lives. But Charlie? His imprint will remain, long after he’s moved.

Dear Lord, we have moved from place to place because of Doug’s career. In each, we’ve formed friendships, made relationships in the neighborhoods, churches and in the communities in which we have resided. Many have shared how our walking, holding hands, or acts of kindness, have left an impression of Your love. We praise You, Jesus, that this is so. May it be the story of our lives, we pray. For no matter where our steps take us, it is our desire that others know that we strive to emulate Your steps, Your ways, and that we follow Your Will. Amen.

“Blessed [happy and sheltered by God’s favor] is everyone who fears the Lord [and worships Him with obedience], who walks in His ways and lives according to His commandments.” Psalm 128:1 AMP

Charlie’s paw prints make me smile because I think of him when I see these imprints on the sidewalk. When others hear your name … what comes to mind? Do they have the impression that you follow Christ? And walk in His ways? Why or why not?
