“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” Exodus 23:20 NIV

Father God, we were preparing to make a 1000-mile journey to the East Coast when You brought this verse to my attention. As I was praying through it in order to commit it to memory, I noticed that You were providing a number of promises within the words. 1) You are sending an angel to accompany us. 2) Ahead of us. 3) To guard us. 4) Along the way. 5) And to bring us to the place You’ve prepared.
In other words, God goes with us. He protects the way ahead. He guards and keeps us. And He’s bringing us to a “prepared place.” This means our current destination, but also our ultimate destination—eternity—as well. The totality of this promise struck me. It sank deeply into my soul and has become an almost daily recitation on my part to cover every area of my life. No matter if we are walking, driving, or biking … God goes with us. He resides within us. This has brought me such comfort, joy, and peace. Jesus, I thank You for how Your Word speaks encouragement to our minds, hearts, and souls. And I especially praise You for the eternal place—heaven—that You’re preparing for those You call Your child. Amen.
How would your life change if you were consciously aware that God sent an angel to go with you wherever you go? Now, you know! Let this truth bring you comfort and peace. Trust God with every step of your journey.
