Weekly Inspiration for the week of 1-7 April 2023

"A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, 'Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!' When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, 'Who is this?' The crowds answered, 'This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.'" Matthew 21:9 NIV

Hosanna—means, “save us, we pray," “Oh save us,” to rescue, or to deliver. It is a form of praise and adoration.

There were cries in the street,

Hosannas rang out, in praise.

Yet in the background,

A gathering remnant,

Would later, proclaim ...

“Crucify Him.”

One day,

Songs and joy filled the air.

On another, fear and anger,

Was declared,

Of a sinless, Innocent soul.

We need You, Lord, to make us whole.

Hosanna, it's a call to worship.

Hosanna, it's a cry of praise.

But did you know,

It means ...

“Oh, save us?”

Oh how this is our prayer, today.

Dear Jesus, in this week,

Preceding Easter,

We bow in adoration;

We bring alms and offerings.

Oh God, save us.

This is our cry unto You!

For Holy are You, Lord.

You took our place,

Anointing us with grace.

You were, and are, the Living Lamb.

Hosanna, Oh, save us, God;

Your death brings us life!

It is no ordinary day,

When you realize ...

What He did to save you,

To free you,

To give you eternal peace.

Hosanna, in the highest. Lord, I praise, with much thanksgiving in my heart. My soul rejoices as I count Your sacrifice among my blessings during this Easter season. Amen.
