I love settings that invite us into them.
I love places that seem to surround us, with serenity.
And gardens, that thrive in Summer,
Seem to fit the bill,
Especially on days that are balmy and warm.
They form an oasis for the body and mind.
They remind us to slow down,
And absorb the beauty around us.
They display God’s hand of beauty and bounty,
As His flourishing touch, graces the earth.
But they are also spaces that encourage us,
To meditate upon the loving-kindness, of Jesus.
So as you enjoy your own garden,
Or visit those in your local communities,
I pray that you find a quiet moment,
And a hidden corner,
To listen to the bird’s praise,
The wind’s whisper,
And the Spirit’s voice among all that is growing.
But most of all,
I hope you stay long enough,
To experience the simple wonder,
That is the Lord, speaking, within the seed-rich soil,
Of your heart.
For here, is the setting,
In which He most wants room to bloom.
Gardens, are outdoor growing rooms that demonstrate to our hearts, that the Lord wants us to flourish. They show us that He is working within us, to bloom. They are His invitation to meditate and to come into His presence for solace and peace. They are living testimonies of His loving-kindness, and show us what can come, from the smallest seeds.
“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night … For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord , they will flourish in the courts of our God.” Psalm 92: 1-2, 4, 12-13 NIV
