God speaks to us in many ways. But creation, more than any other method, seems to bring His attributes, to life. Perhaps it’s because nature is all around us. Maybe it’s because we are witnesses to everyday miracles—in the seasons, in earth’s daily changes, or as light and darkness sweep across our hours, like the tide. Or maybe it’s the way we connect to certain colors, textures, smells, or sounds. I believe God tells us we have no excuse for not seeing His existence, because His very presence is so difficult to miss.
His attributes and character are visible from the moment we wake in the morning, until we close our eyes in sleep at night. He has fashioned all creatures, from bold and strong, to fragile and delicate, so that we would be drawn to His workmanship and artistry. And in the telling of His own story, we are given glimpses of Who He is. And if earth is His voice piece; Heaven is His megaphone. But the wise, hear both within the soul, calling, to know Him as Lord.
God’s hope, rises from the void of darkness, lifting as night yields to day.
His faithfulness is like the dawn, new each morning.
His mercy moves, like a quiet, flowing stream.
His gentleness, opens like the newest leaf and tender bud, that arrive in Spring.
His joy, lifts our hearts with the sweetest anthem of worship, as the birds sing His praise.
His Spirit can be as subtle as the wind’s whisper, or can crash as powerfully as a raging ocean.
His Living Water, is like a gushing waterfall that never runs dry.
His grace sweeps over us, like a covering of freshly fallen snow.
His strength is like a mighty mountain, steadfast and sure.
His love is endless, as the grains of sand on the seashore.
His peace, is like the calmest lake after a storm has passed.
His loving-kindness cannot be measured; it’s like the starry canopy that fills the velvet sky.
He is infinite, like the landscape of earth stretched from end to end.
He is omnipotent and omnipresent.
He is perfect in wisdom and authority.
He is gracious, and just.
He is holy, righteous, and deserving of all glory and honor.
With every creation, or created being that has or ever will be born, God is speaking of His love. He is moving, shaping, designing, refining. His character is visible, displaying His invisible Spirit to us, through all that He has made. And we are blessed, if we will pause to behold Him—in all of these myriad facets. Because to miss Him, would be tragic. And who would want to? When He has so much to say!
