Monarch butterfly in a colorful local garden
Monarch butterfly in a colorful local garden

I loved finding this Monarch butterfly in a local garden. Notice that her pattering resembles stained glass. She bears the markings of stripes, dots, and shades from yellow to gold to orange to black. Then, did you notice that she’s attracted to flowers of the same hues?

I found this image to be striking. Moments such as this help me appreciate God’s beauty and majesty. They allow me to pause and witness His holiness in creation. And these simple snapshots capture a few seconds as a still-life to behold the Lord in all His glory.

“Let the heavens be glad, the earth rejoice; let the vastness of the roaring seas demonstrate his glory. Praise him for the growing fields (with their butterflies), for they display his greatness. Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise.” Psalm 96:11-12 TLB

Dear Lord, thank You for the things of earth that display Your creativity and leave us filled with wonder. These draw our hearts toward worship and to dream of eternity in Your presence. Amen.

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11 NIV
