Get on your Feet

We went to a little animal park recently, and witnessed an interesting sight. Three, obviously new born goats, were lying down. Then along came the parent, nudging, cajoling each one, until they were on their feet. These newbies needed to use their limbs in order to strengthen them.
As we watched, I could hear God’s whisper … that’s what I’m doing when things hurt you. That’s what I’m doing when you go through trials. That’s what I’m about, when you have to exercise your faith.
Sometimes God makes us “get on our feet,” step out in trust, take a leap—even when it’s difficult, the way is unclear, or we don’t understand exactly what He’s doing in a certain circumstance. But just like this goat—our Abba Daddy is always right! And He’s always right be side us—to encourage us, to help us grow, to teach us, and help us discern—His ways.
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 1:2-4 NIV
If you feel God’s nudge, His gentle prod, or hear His whisper of instruction—act. Move. Obey. ‘Cause if we want to strengthen our spiritual selves (just as we do our physical bodies) we must develop some movement in His direction, listen, and do as He says.
If we want to follow Jesus—we must get on our feet—and emulate His faith and ways.
