Framing His Artistry

An artist's metal design highlights the garden beyond!

We found this sculptural metal design of an iris, a tulip, and an orchid in a local garden. I loved looking through the scene like a window. It was beautiful to see the earth starting to gain color as it began to bloom. Soon—the images formed within this frame—will also grow in this outdoor space. It will become more vibrant over the coming weeks and months. The day that we were there, volunteers and staff were in the process of clearing away the leavings of Winter. They were preparing the flowerbeds etc., for planting.

I was struck by how a craftsman’s artistic rendering framed God’s floral artistry. I’m fascinated by the handiwork with which the Lord has gifted humanity. But even more, all of creation flows from His hand. From trees to shrubs to flowers of all types and varieties, from the birds and other small creatures that will buzz and make their home here—He is the Creator of everything.

“Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:11-13 NIV

Dear Lord, I admire the talent of this metal worker who captured this floral design which looks through, to the garden space, beyond. And I am in awe of You for the wonders that You place in front of us daily—like a window into Your heart. Your creativity and care are displayed in all of creation. Oh, how I am filled with thanksgiving! I can’t wait to see this garden come alive in the months to come. For as the colors and blooms are magnified, so, too, will my praise be. Amen.
