Gently,
Slowly,
Softly,
We came eye to eye.
A fragile trust,
Was built.
Step by step,
I was able to draw close,
To this young deer,
Because I was patient.
Jesus is patient.
He invites us to draw close.
Young or old alike,
And step by step,
He reaches out to us,
Wanting to build,
A fragile trust.
We come eye to eye …
Gently,
Slowly,
Softly.
Gently, He loves us.
Slowly, He reaches out to us.
Softly, He knocks upon the door of our hearts.
We must come like a little one,
With a fragile trust,
Taking one tentative,
Step at a time.
And then we look into His eyes,
And see compassion.
We take His hands,
And He tells us,
“Come unto Me, dear child.”
And as we walk together,
What begins cautiously,
Grows courageously,
Building faith.
Then we invite others,
Into the dance.
Gently,
Slowly,
Softly …
“As a deer longs for a stream of cool water, so I long for you, O God.” Psalm 42:1 (GNT)
“He makes me sure-footed as a deer; he keeps me safe on the mountains.” Psalm 18:33 (GNT)
… It only takes one fragile step toward Jesus. One move toward Him in faith shows your ability to trust. For when you come eye-to-eye with the Savior, you will meet grace and mercy, immeasurable. And as your journey deepens, He becomes so dear that you want Him to guide everything that you do.
This deer came nearly eye-to-eye with me. It allowed me to come in close proximity without fear, without running. Jesus is making a similar invitation to your heart. He will stand steady, ‘cause He is looking in your direction. Take a step—gently, slowly, softly—but start to move! In His eyes you will find—acceptance, forgiveness, peace, joy, blessing, and favor. Do not hesitate. The Lord is patient and kind, but if He is seeking you, do not turn away. His eyes are filled with love.
Eye to eye,
Brings us face to face,
With our Dear Savior,
Who is filled with love and grace.
Are your eyes fixed upon Jesus?
