A bee enjoying the pollen from a pure white flower!
A bee enjoying the pollen from a pure white flower!

I love how this bee is diving into the center of this pure white balloon flower. To me, it’s a beautiful illustration of seeking God.

Romans 3:10-12 says that no one seeks God. Let’s read these verses together.

“There is no righteous person, not even one; 11 There is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks out God; 12 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, there is not even one (NASB).”

However, these words refer to our natural state before the Spirit invites us into a personal relationship with Christ as our Savior and Lord.

Let’s look to a couple of Scriptures that encourage us to seek the Lord.

Matthew 6:33 tells us: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (NKJV).”

1 Chronicles 16:11 invites us to draw near. “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face continually (NASB).” I like how a few translations say, “Seek His presence continually.”

If you look closely at my photo—you’ll see that my bee has pollen pockets that are being filled on both sides of its body. It’s almost like it has been reading and applying our Scriptural texts, right?

Seeking God means that we’ll be filled up with love for Him, our knowledge of Him, His attributes, and the fruits of His Spirit.

Dear Lord, I’m diving in—like this bee—to Your Word, to discover Your Will for my life, and to follow where You direct. May Your Spirit fill me to deposit Your love to You and others. I promise to seek You with this type of devotion daily! Amen.
