"Then God said, 'Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.'” Genesis 1:20 NASB
It was nearing sunset as this seagull flew past. The shadows were beginning to form. Yet, this moment captures the dance of light —upon the bird, upon the water—in a simple show of God’s majesty to my heart. Do you see it?
Lord, I love how You color the sea with the touch of Your hand. I marvel at how a sunset can move across a creature or a landscape, and create light and shadow. And I am thankful that when each touches my life, You control the waves, the intensity. I trust You, Jesus, because in this dance of life—You always show Yourself to be present, and the Guardian of my every hour. Amen.
If the Creator can highlight one of his creatures in such an interesting and beautiful way, it should teach us, that He is control of what touches us. So may we dance, in the light and the shadow, because He is with us, in each.
I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things. You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord, have created it." Isaiah 45:5-8 NIV
