A vase of tulips in the snow illustrates Isaiah 1:18
A vase of tulips in the snow illustrates Isaiah 1:18

We had gotten fresh, bright red tulips one day, along with a few groceries. I thought how lovely they would look contrasted against the fresh snow that we received overnight. So I set about to draw a design around my vase. And the Lord brought this beloved verse to my mind …

“Come, let’s talk this over, says the Lord; no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool!” Isaiah 1:18 TLB

  • The tulip color, represents our sin, our stain.

  • The snow, God’s cleansing and forgiveness. (Psalm 103:12)

  • The purple vase depicts His royalty. It’s the sign of our submission to His supremacy.

  • The green in the stems is a symbol of new life, growth, even in the midst of the wintery landscape.

The life that is submitted to Jesus,

Will never be perfect,

But by His blood,

We’ve been redeemed!

If we’ve placed our trust,

Upon His name,

We’ve been forever, changed.

The Lord clothes us,

In His righteousness,

Then plants His Spirit deep within …

To help us bloom and flourish—

Until there is a flowing design—

That bears,

A striking resemblance of Him.

I drew around my vase of flowers in the snow, to create a scene; God drew from Jesus His lifeblood, to plant the seed of Salvation in every soul. For in every season He is at work. And in each day, He is writing His love upon the landscape of your heart. Are you submitting to His design?

Exodus 9:16, Ephesians 1:11, Philippians 2:12-13, 2 Timothy 1:9, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 Corinthians 5: 15 & 21
