Allegiance to One

I was thinking about the Pledge of Allegiance this morning. If you are at least 50 years old, you probably remember this act of ceremony at the start of classes. But in many places the love of our flag, history, our country, of our freedoms, seems to be dying away. However, no matter your feelings or view on these, may your allegiance remain strong, in loving the Founder of all life and breath—the original Father and Maker of our world—God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. For unto Him, all will one day bow. And it is unto Him that I bring my allegiance, as a prayer …

The American Flag flying, and lit by the sun!
The American Flag flying, and lit by the sun!

Dear Jesus,

I pledge allegiance,

To You, my Savior, above,

The One who rules and reigns,

With a hand of love.

I give You my worship,

As my offering,

Like a sacrifice,

From my soul, it rings.

I lift my hands,

And let them wave,

In a dance of praise,

To You, the Ancient of Days.

I lift my voice,

As a warrior’s cry,

Telling of Your majesty,

Until You draw nigh.

Every day that we wake-up and have breath in our lungs, is a gift. And every day that we can love and serve our Lord, should bring allegiance to our hearts. For God loved us enough to give His Son, to bring us life, to bring us eternal freedom. So I give Him my heart, filled with gratefulness and praise and worship as my offering on Independence Day weekend. How about you?

“The Lord and the Spirit are one and the same, and the Lord’s Spirit sets us free.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 CEV

May we pledge allegiance to our country and remember those who sacrificed everything to give us freedom, but may it be our life’s mission, to live-out allegiance to our God and Abba Daddy. Amen.
