A Banner of Love

Weekly Inspiration for 2-9 July 2022

Can you tell that our neighbor’s daughter had a birthday this week? I loved that their banner spanned the entire width of their yard. And notice, the base of it contains the words: “Super Kid?” I immediately thought that “this is a powerful phrase of encouragement in Emma’s life.” Were you raised with such?
No matter if that was, or was not, our experience—that is the opinion and view—of our Lord. You see, He made each of us uniquely (Psalm 139). He loves us, and gave His only begotten Son so that none would perish (John 3:16-17) or be separated from Him. And He means for our every day, every year, every breath—to be a gift to us (James 1:17, Job 33:4). In Galatians 4:6, the Lord is called our Abba Daddy, and we are referred to as “sons and daughters.” How’s that for being given a name, value, and worth in your world?
So we wish Emma a Happy Birthday. We hope that her day is filled with fun, and joy. And we pray that each of you, celebrate the love that God holds for you. For the Cross was His “banner” over us. And Zephaniah 3:17 tells us, that He is a Mighty Warrior (in the NIV translation) who saves us, and sings over us—so we have much be thankful for, including His merciful grace.
P. S. And if you’ve never been told that you’re a “Super Kid”—well you are—in God’s eyes, everyday!
Here’s the whole of Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” (ESV)
