Oh mountain, mountain,
Made by God’s majesty,
How you’re dressed,
In wildflower, finery …
With shades petal-soft,
And assorted vibrant hues;
They rise toward heaven,
To give the Creator His due.
And when I see,
A scene such as this,
My heart cries out,
With eternal bliss,
—And a desire to sing God’s praise.
For as the granite peaks,
And tree-covered hills,
Undulate like waves,
I see the illustration,
Of Your perfect grace.
Upon every surface,
Near and far,
Lord, I see the imprint,
Of how great You are!
—And I have a desire to sing Your praise!
Every mountain, hill and vale, flowers … the sky and billowy clouds … every tree in every forest—was created to help us see the majesty of God. Scenes like this, always make me stop and take notice. How about you? There was so much to take in. From the crystalline air to the landscape, to the way God had dressed the Summer meadow—He had left out no detail. He even left a little snow in the crevices in the top peaks—just as an artist might, in a painting. So you wonder why I’m in awe of Him? I hope you are also.
My desire to sing God’s praises, doesn’t come from—the majestic mountain or the wildflowers or the perfectly shaped evergreens—but each, points my eyes and my heart, to their Maker. It’s unto to Him that I raise my adoration, my prayers, my every need. For here, in the midst of such beauty, it’s difficult to keep standing. While I was on my knees to frame the picture, I also gave my Abba Daddy some praise.
"Let praise cascade off my lips; after all, you've taught me the truth about life! And let your promises ring from my tongue; every order you've given is right. Put your hand out and steady me since I've chosen to live by your counsel. I'm homesick, God, for your salvation; I love it when you show yourself! Invigorate my soul so I can praise you well, use your decrees to put iron in my soul. And should I wander off like a lost sheep - seek me! I'll recognize the sound of your voice.” Psalm 119:171-176 MSG
Here are a few verse references to frame your praise:
Psalm 28:7, Psalm 51:15, Psalm 63:3-4, Isaiah 25:1, Psalm 103,
Psalm 145:1, Hebrews 13:15, Psalm 71:23
