Proverbs 31:25 (NIV) “She is clothed with strength and dignity …”

There’s a Grandmother,

Who wears a crown …

God’s glory adorns her head,

In a wreath of shiny, gray hair.

(Proverbs 16:31)

There’s an Aunty,

Who wears a mantle of joy.

Her only lines or wrinkles,

Are near, her smile.

(Job 8:21)

There’s a Mother,

Who rejoices,

Because each of her children,

Loves … Jesus.

(Proverbs 22:6)

There’s a Sister,

Who sings God’s awesome praise?

Like the birds,

Hallelujahs rise, ever and always.

(Psalm 103:1)

There is a little girl,

Who will one day be,

A teen, then a lady,

Here is what she sees …

She’s looking at each of these women;

Which will she emulate?

She wants to be a Mother,

An Aunty, Sister, and  Friend,

That gives glory to God.

Will the ones before her,

Teach her, to this end?

(Titus 2:4-5)

She wants to have a crown,

To lay at the feet of Jesus.

For this is a woman of virtue,

Beauty and grace.

May each of us be cognizant of this,

When we look into a child’s face.

(Proverbs 31:30)

(James 1:12, 1 Peter 5:4, Revelation 3:11)

In every little girl, there is a dream and a future that God ordains. They are looking for an example to follow. It is our responsibility as women to be a light for the Lord at all stages of our lives. It should be our goal to live in such a way that we have a crown to lay at His feet, have a heart full of praise, a few laugh-lines, and eventually, a wreath of gray—to show that joy was our ministry, and that love was our mission.

The Mother’s Day Crown is not about age, but wisdom. It is gaining God’s love, joy, and grace daily. And then—it is not in the keeping of it—but giving it to the next generation, that brings love, full circle. Happy Mother’s Day to every Mom, to every woman, and to every little girl. May each of us serve Him where we are, and be an example of His loving-kindness, to everyone that we meet.

Please look up and read Proverbs 31. This passage sets a lofty example, but one that honors Jesus and those whom God has gifted into our lives.
